What is Supervive?
In a nutshell, Supervive combines the elements of a battle royale shooter like Apex Legends with the mechanics and controls of League of Legends. It features a top-down view that adds a new dimension to the gameplay. The game takes the fundamentals of a multiplayer online battle arena, such as fighting creeps to level up character abilities and gathering items to enhance stats, and integrates it into a battle royale setting. Here, teams compete against each other to be the last squad standing on a shrinking map.
You can enjoy Supervive in various team configurations - solo, duos, or four-person squads. Once in the game, the squad leader selects the hunters. Each hunter has distinct abilities, like extending a stretchy arm to pull enemies or creating an ice wall to block and push opponents. Hunters are categorized into five types - Fighter, Initiator, Frontliner, Protector, and Controller - each contributing differently to the game. A balanced squad usually has hunters from multiple categories to have a diverse set of tools at their disposal. After selecting the hunters, the squad leader chooses a drop point and the action begins.
What's the Supervive Open Beta Release Date?
The open beta for Supervive kicks off on Wednesday, Nov. 20, and the developers have assured that the game will be available 24/7 "in perpetuity" after that. There are no restrictions on play hours or shutting down the game before its official launch.
What Makes Supervive Different from Other Battle Royales?
Most battle royale games are either first- or third-person shooters, emphasizing aim skills. However, Supervive uses a top-down perspective similar to League of Legends and Diablo games, making players rely on different skills. Aim still plays a role, especially in battles over the abyss where one hit can be fatal, but it's not as crucial as in an FPS. Other battle royale skills are transferable, such as knowing good starting areas and navigating the shrinking storm. But in the endgame, when the storm is small and teams have similar equipment, winning depends on using hero abilities and coordinating with the squad.
Combat in Supervive resembles that of League of Legends at a faster pace. For most hunters, the outcome of a fight depends on getting the most value from their abilities, which are essential for breaking through opponents' defenses. Skirmishes are quick enough to require quick decisions but slow enough to allow for strategic retreats. Despite having a relatively small starting roster of 16, Supervive's hunters offer a wide variety to suit both aim-focused players and those who prefer ability-based characters.
Like in Apex, Reviving Hunters in Supervive
If a teammate goes down, your squad has two options to revive them - performing a "box rez" at the death spot or controlling a resurrection beacon for a certain duration to bring the entire squad back to life. This feature adds an extra layer of strategy and survival to the game.
Is Supervive Free to Play?
Yes, Supervive allows you to play and unlock hunters for free over time. The game offers cosmetics like skins, emotes, and profile icons for sale. If you prefer instant gratification, you can spend money to buy a supporter pack that unlocks all 16 hunters immediately. The more expensive Superviver pack also grants access to the next four hunters and additional cosmetics.
